Gippsland

The East coastal region of Victoria is called the Gippsland... but it is often divided into further geographic regions. As you cross the border from New South Wales heading south, the lush hills and happy cows indicate farming land and the Bega cheese factory gives it away.

Further south the scenery changes and waterways are the dominant feature. Meandering every which way, it’s sometimes hard to tell if you are heading north or south, because there is water on all sides. Of course all this water makes for wonderful family holidays and the seaside resort towns of Mallacoota, Metung and Lakes Entrance (in East Gippsland) are popular spots for families.

Away from the coast and the Central Gippsland region is a place of stunning rainforests, magnificent caves, award winning museums and historical sites. Tour the gold mine at Walhalla, visit Old Gippstown in Moe, and walk for hours in stunning Wilsons Promontory.
